INTERVIEW
I joined the ArtStation Podcast with my longtime friend and creative partner, Banks Boutté, for a conversation about KitBash3D, creative independence, and building a company around the idea of creating without permission.
At the time, we were still early in the journey of turning KitBash3D from an idea into a larger creative platform. In this conversation, we talked about our backgrounds in film, games, acting, production, and worldbuilding, and how those experiences shaped the mission behind the company.
This interview is about the desire to make things on your own terms. It covers the early days of KitBash3D, the lessons we learned from the entertainment industry, the value of worldbuilding, the importance of creative ownership, and the belief that artists should have better tools to bring their ideas into the world.
The conversation reflects the mindset that led us from client work and studio systems into founding KitBash3D, creating Sleep Tight, and pursuing a path where artists could build worlds, companies, and opportunities of their own.
