Westworld was one of my first major projects as an Art Director at Elastic and an opportunity to help define the visual identity of a series that would become a landmark in modern science fiction.
Our team explored a wide range of creative directions before drawing inspiration from the Body Worlds exhibition and the work of Damien Hirst. We became fascinated by the intersection of anatomy, technology, and artificial life, using exposed musculature, mechanical structures, and precision-engineered forms to explore the relationship between humans and machines.
These early designs helped establish the visual language that would ultimately define the title sequence, balancing beauty and discomfort in equal measure while reflecting the central themes of the show.
The final title sequence earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Main Title Design and a Silver Lion for Design at Cannes.
