Terminator: Dark Fate holds a special place in my career, not only because of the people involved, but because it became the final film I worked on as a professional artist before turning my full attention to building KitBash3D.

The project brought together many threads from my journey in visual effects. It was directed by Tim Miller, founder of Blur Studio, a company I had admired since childhood and collaborated with throughout my career. I also had the opportunity to work alongside longtime collaborators from Digital Domain including Eric Barba, Dan Akers, and Nitant Karnik, as well as the amazing Blur team. By this point, KitBash3D was already underway, and our team created a custom asset library for the production that I was able to use throughout the project.

My primary responsibility was designing the film's post-apocalyptic future, a world shaped by decades of war and collapse. Drawing inspiration from photographs of war-torn cities and imagining a sky consumed by an endless electrical storm, I created a series of large-scale matte paintings that were projected and integrated into the film's environments. The largest of these paintings exceeded 15,000 pixels in width and served as the backdrop for humanity's final struggle against the machines.

Looking back, I can't imagine a more fitting final film. It allowed me to bring together everything I had learned as an artist while offering a glimpse of the next chapter that was already beginning.
