Iron Man 3 was one of the defining projects of my time at Digital Domain and an opportunity to collaborate with an extraordinary team of artists on some of the film's most memorable sequences.

Much of my work focused on the "Barrel of Monkeys" sequence, where passengers are pulled from a damaged aircraft and Iron Man must rescue them before they fall into the ocean. For this sequence, I created large-scale aerial views of Miami as well as the ocean vistas that served as the backdrop for the action. I also contributed matte paintings for the snowy landscapes of Tennessee, where Tony Stark crash lands after escaping Malibu. Because the film was shot during the summer, many of these environments had to be transformed into winter through a combination of digital painting and visual effects.

One of the aerial paintings created for the "Barrel of Monkeys" sequence became a hero image for the film's marketing campaign, appearing on billboards and in publications including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. The film was later nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
