I spent nearly a year creating matte paintings for Godzilla, helping transform San Francisco into the backdrop for one of cinema's most iconic monster battles. Working with director Gareth Edwards (Star Wars: Rogue One, The Creator, Jurassic World Dominion), we set out to create a version of the city that felt grounded, believable, and shaped by the consequences of an extraordinary event.

What fascinated me most about the project was the storytelling hidden within the destruction. Every damaged building, collapsed structure, and debris-filled street became an opportunity to imagine what had happened moments before. Some buildings appeared to have been struck by Godzilla's tail, while others suggested the aftermath of falling aircraft, collapsing infrastructure, or the chaos of a city caught in the middle of a battle between giants.

In addition to the devastated cityscapes, I also contributed environments for the underground egg nest sequences and the news coverage that documented the aftermath of the attack. Together, these images helped tell the story of the battle from multiple perspectives, creating a world that felt both epic in scale and rich with detail.
